Company
Headquartered in Highland Park, Illinois, APL formed as a research company in a university setting in the late 80s (University of Loyola). Incorporated 1989 as Accurate Polymers, Ltd., and the company was primarily a research and development company until 2000 when the products began being launched into the marketplace. In 2002, the company was renamed as APL Biopurification Technologies to better reflect the companys product and services.
In 1989 Dr. Ioannis Scarpa of Loyola Dental School was seeking a method of isolating Glucosyl Transferase without contaminants. That led him to invent non-porus, glassy cellulose bioresins that selectively removed specific elements, including contaminants, leaving high purity Transferase. Based on this invention the company was launched. APL has exclusive patent rights to this technology.

Manufacturing for APL is handled in part by North American Corporation located in East Tennessee within Carter County and the City of Elizabethton.
