Orbicell® Affinity Bioresins and Applications

APL manufactures biological products on a contract basis using proprietary technology, based on the Orbicell® affinity resins and on APL’s novel processing methodologies.

A new generation of affinity separation products developed by APL offers substantial and much needed improvements to the bioprocess industry. Orbicell® Bioresins are unique in their ability to recover valuable biological materials, where the structure of a resin itself enables more efficient purification methodologies. The non-porous, small bead-size Bioresin, offers high structural integrity, low non-specific interactions and high capacities.

Based on the unique properties of Orbicell® Bioresins, purification processes can now take place in a tangential flow filtration or a continuous centrifuge purification system, instead of using a chromatographic column system. This novel processing method greatly enhances the throughput, and allows the recycling and revalidation to be done in a much shorter time.

In a batch mode, binding, washing and elution cycles can be performed with considerable savings in time and with increased yields as compared to traditional column chromatography.

Overall, APL by using their own, proprietary technology performs purifications in fewer steps and in less time, which enables our customers to achieve higher productivities and higher profits.

In special cases where regulatory requirements, geographic situation or other circumstances, prevent an off-site custom processing, APL is willing to consider licensing or other options.
